The issue with patient medication non-compliance has been a problem for decades. Studies have shown that non-adherence attributes to 10% to 25% of nursing home and hospital admissions, accounts for 125,000 US deaths a year, and contributes to one of the largest and most expensive disease categories in healthcare. Most of these deaths and diseases are easily preventable and would essentially save billions of dollars in lost revenue across the board each year. The bottom line? With the healthcare reform law, improved communication, collaboration, education, and national adherence campaigns, we have a great start for improving these devastating outcomes.
Our vision for the 2nd Patience Adherence Summit is to dig deep into these issues by offering a uniquely interactive, hands-on, and results-driven two-day meeting. We will achieve this by offering a multi-disciplinary approach involving all key stakeholders as collaborators.
