A recent article in US News & World Report lists Public Relations as one of the 50 best careers for 2010: “Employment of public relations specialists is expected to increase by more than 66,000 jobs, or 24 percent, between 2008 and 2018.” The Economist states that, “Public Relations is emerging as a dominant profession.” In such a dynamic time, the need for experts who specialize in communication continues to skyrocket. As the regulatory, political and economic environment grows in complexity, the role of public relations increases in relevance and necessity. To achieve success in the marketplace and maximize patient outcomes, individual pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies must have meaningful and regular communication across internal functional areas, as well as with the outside world.
