Amy Doty spent the first 10 years of her career in hotel operations and sales. An opening at Wyeth provided the opportunity to join a small, internal group that supported company events. Over the next 15 years, Amy remained with Wyeth, eventually leading the team as Director of Meeting Services. During that time, she grew the department to a large, fully outsourced SMM operation that produced over 900 events annually. While at Wyeth, Amy developed and implemented numerous standard operational procedures as well as led the strategic planning of the company’s National Sales Meetings, Product Launch Meetings, incentive trips and other high-level events. Amy was instrumental in the implementation of the company’s first Meetings Policy and the integration of the Scientific and Research meetings team into the model. Other successful initiatives include the implementation of a Preferred Hotel Program, expanding the model internationally, developing standardized data collection and reporting and leading several RFP teams to select and on-board new service providers.
In April of 2011, Amy joined Novartis as Director of Meeting Solutions, overseeing a team of both internal and external resources that provide end-to-end meeting services for approximately 1000 events annually. Amy has been a frequent speaker with MPI, CBI and Exl Pharma, addressing such topics as Initiating an SMMP, Vendor Relations, Cost Effective Meetings and Product Launch Strategies. Additionally she has partnered with several major hotel chains on customer presentations, sales manager training and serving on customer advisory boards. She enjoys being active in Corporate and Social Responsibility and has led teams at both Wyeth and Novartis in this area.
