Mr. Clinton Riley
Director of Editorial Services, Global Communications
Merck & Co., Inc., United States

Clinton works at the intersection of internal and external communications helping Merck better understand the outside world while simultaneously helping the world better understand the company.

Based at Merck's worldwide headquarters in Whitehouse Station, N.J., Clinton has created a first-in-class media monitoring and measurement strategy the company uses to strategically position itself within the pharmaceutical industry.  Clinton also bridges global communications teams, including media relations, corporate and research communications, branding and reputation, international communications and product communications.  Among his responsibilities are overseeing media monitoring and analytics, maintaining the company's Newsroom on Merck.com and identifying new and more effective ways to communicate the company's story to internal and external audiences.

Before joining Merck in 2007, Clinton enjoyed a successful media career.  He is a national-award winning business writer with almost two decades of experience in print, television, radio and online media.  He gained real world knowledge of what matters most on Main Street and Wall Street while working for such respected news organizations as The Wall Street Journal, The Virginian-Pilot and The (Bergen) Record.  In the mid-1990s, at the dawn of the modern Internet age, he helped launch one of the nation's first online newspaper sites with a user-driven message board feature called "Sound Off" – a precursor to today's Twitter.
