Dr. Fred Naids is currently the Senior Strategic Sourcing Director for Shire Pharmaceuticals’ Clinical Development Operations & Biometrics organization. In this role, he is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a global outsourcing strategy that supports all clinical trial activities, from Phase II through Phase IV. Working across all functions, Fred partners with the Leadership Team to optimize resources based on the unique needs of each function and the dynamic needs of the portfolio.
In addition to partnering with Shire’s Legal and Global Procurement Services groups to establish a streamlined process for supplier selection, contracting, and pricing, Fred proactively collaborates with Compliance and QA to maintain industry best practices and compliance with regulatory, government, and industry agencies.
Fred earned his B.S. in Microbiology from the Pennsylvania State University he earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Hahnemann University School of Medicine. Dr. Naids successfully completed a post-doctoral fellowship at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals in Macromolecular Sciences and Gene Expression Sciences. Fred has completed a number of graduate level courses from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business’ Executive Education Program in Finance, Leadership, and Management; courses on Negotiation Strategy and Process from Harvard/Tuffs/MIT; Washington University’s Risk Management in a Sourcing Environment; and courses on Legal Drafting, Intellectual Property Management, and Patent Law.
