Jason Appel has joined Amgen to develop a new area within the Marketing Center of Excellence, as Marketing Director, Physician Relationship Marketing. In this role, Jason is focused on optimizing and leveraging both traditional and new media channels (including personal vs. non-personal sales models) across the Amgen portfolio to help define Amgen’s healthcare professional digital and relationship management strategy at both the brand and corporate levels.
This newly created area directly supports physicians’ new and emerging learning techniques and the sophisticated ways we have an opportunity to interact with them. Prior to Amgen, Jason has held positions in multi-channel and eMarketing strategy development serving as both agency and client. Most recently, Jason developed similar multi-channel marketing models for most of the primary care and specialty brands as Director, Complementary Channels for Sanofi-Aventis. In the same role, he also piloted and developed alternative selling models. In 2008, Jason was named to PharmaVoice’s “100 most inspiring professionals in the life sciences.” Prior to his role with Sanofi-Aventis, he served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Account Management for Medical Broadcasting Company (now Digitas Health), where he developed brand and franchise online strategies within the Sanofi-Aventis, Genentech, LifeScan, Biogen Idec, and Amgen portfolios.
Jason is currently on the newly formed editorial advisory board for Med Ad News. He earned a bachelors degree in biology from Duke University as well as an M.B.A. in marketing from the Stern School of Business. Jason is originally from New Jersey and currently resides in California with his wife and 2 sons.
