Kathy directs strategic marketing and communications for Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers, a multispecialty medical group practice with more than 400 physicians at 20 locations and is part of Sharp HealthCare in San Diego. Her responsibilities include advertising, special events, social media, brand strategy, public relations, internal and external communications, reward & recognition and sales to employers, brokers and health plans.
Kathy is also responsible for the Patient Contact Center, the team utilizing multi-channels to complete more than 1.8 million patient interactions annually. Since 2007, Kathy co-lead the successful launch of mySharp, the interactive patient portal which allows patients to schedule appointments, contact their physician’s office, check lab results and more online. Today, more than 85,000 patients have opened a mySharp account and dozens tell us daily how much they appreciate the convenience.
Kathy has been with Sharp HealthCare since 1994 and was one of the original model developers who laid the groundwork for The Sharp Experience, an exciting journey to improve the organization’s culture and transform the health care experience.
Prior to joining Sharp, she was community relations manager for Lutheran General Hospital/Advocate in Park Ridge, Illinois. With additional experience in recruitment and human resources, Kathy has more than 25 years of leadership expertise and a unique ability to bring people together around common goals.
Kathy received her BA in journalism from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She has given numerous presentations on the development of mySharp, patient contact centers and healthcare marketing.
