Kelly Willenberg is sole member of Synergism, LLC. A new approach to healthcare compliance consulting, Kelly approaches clients as “advocates working together”. She most recently was the Director of the Research Institute for Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Prior positions included the Director of Billing Compliance and the Director of the Cancer Center’s Clinical Trials Office, both at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is a prominent health care billing specialist who has physician and hospital reimbursement knowledge, as well as regulatory compliance. She has served in various capacities at the state level in support of clinical trial development and legislation. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, a Masters in Business Administration and is a PhD candidate in Management with her dissertation underway.
Kelly has extensive knowledge in clinical trials management and compliance, including all aspects of billing compliance. She recently served on the Scientific Steering Committee and was the Chair of the Clinical Trials Council for Health Sciences South Carolina, a consortium of health care systems both academic and for profit.
Kelly has been a national speaker at seminars and conferences on topics related to clinical trials management, regulatory issues, budgeting, Medicare billing, reimbursement, and research compliance. She has presented at Oncology Nursing Society, Academy of Health Care Administrators, ASCO, American Health Lawyers Association, and Health Care Compliance Association, MAGI, World Research Group, ExL Pharma and other professional organizations. She has also been a presenter at the International Twin Congress in Europe as a mother of grown fraternal daughters. She assisted in writing the new Research Compliance Professional’s Handbook for Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA) and serves as a faculty member of the HCCA’s Research Compliance Academy. She is certified in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC).
