The first and only President and CEO of the Society for Women's Health Research (SWHR) since its founding in 1990, Phyllis Greenberger provides direction and oversees the education and advocacy programs of this national non-profit organization and is widely recognized as one of the leaders in the women's health field. The recipient of numerous awards, Phyllis was named one of the 100 Most Powerful Women by Washingtonian Magazine in 2006 and profiled by Women's Daymagazine in 2010 as one of "50 Women Who Are Changing the World." She is also profiled in the book Extraordinary Women: Fantasies Revealed(Stewart, Tabori and Chang, 2006), which features portraits of 58 prominent women in the U.S.
The co-editor with Dr. Jennifer Wider of the book The Savvy Woman Patient: How and Why Your Sex Impacts Your Health (Capitol Books, 2006), Phyllis currently serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for WomenHeart, a national coalition for women with heart disease; is a board member of the Interstitial Cystitis Association; is on the Editorial Board for Shape magazine; serves on the Women's Task Force for the National Hemophilia Foundation; and is a member of the International Women's Forum and the National Association of Professional Women. Phyllis frequently testifies before Congress advocating for additional research and funding for women's health and regularly speaks to international and national audiences on women's health issues and health disparities affecting women and minorities. She received a B.A. from Syracuse University and an M.W.W. from The Catholic University of America.
