Dr. Terence (Terry) Barnhart is Senior Director of Continuous Improvement for Pfizer Research and Development.  Terry's responsibility is the development and implementation of continuous improvement and innovation strategies for pharmaceutical research at Pfizer.  To support this effort, Terry developed “Agile R&D” a Lean approach tailored to the culture of Pfizer Global R&D and specifically designed to improve the rate and quality of pharmaceutical innovation.  These efforts focus on creating “fast-learning” approaches, positive social contexts for scientific collaboration, and management systems designed to reduce burden and increase creative capability.

Prior to his career at Pfizer, Terry worked as a management consultant with McKinsey and Company, as a Senior Research Scientist at General Electric Corporate R&D, a plant engineer at Uniroyal Plastics, and a project manager at Schering Plough.  He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and a Bachelors degree and post-Doctoral fellowships from the University of Michigan.
