Yvan Deurbroeck joined Medtronic at the International Headquarters in Switzerland, in March 2001 as the Director of Public and Media Relations for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
In this function, Yvan was responsible for managing all PR and media relations activities across the EMEA region with the development of a proactive and reactive media relations strategy and activities, management of the internal and web communications function, issues and crisis management and development of an EMEA crisis communications network and act as main PR liaison for industry associations across Europe.
In 2008, Yvan was promoted to Vice-President of International Public Relations and Communications, overseeing communications in Europe and Central Asia, Canada, Latin America, Africa, and Asia Pacific. In this role, Yvan oversees all Medtronic’s internal and external communication, including PR, media relations, web communications, crisis and issues management as well as marketing communications.
Previous Career History:
Yvan Deurbroeck started his career in Belgium in 1992 as an Account Manager with Eurocom Corporate PR, then Belgian subsidiary of EURO RSCG. He then moved on to the Rowland Company, the leading Belgian PR agency. In July 1995, he joined Dow Corning Corporation where he worked as a Corporate External and Site Communications Manager for nearly five years. In 1999, he moved to Switzerland to assume the role of Global External Relations Manager at Novartis Consumer Health in Nyon, near Geneva.
Yvan Deurbroeck holds a Master’s degree in translation Dutch, English, French and is a graduate in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations.
A Belgian native, living between Geneva and Lausanne in Switzerland, Yvan speaks Dutch, French, English and German.
